JANUS Research Group’s Space and Air Force Programs have several task orders focused on research and development applications addressing DoW challenges. Our diverse space-weather initiatives and prototype development efforts currently emphasize satellite preparedness and orbital safeguarding to protect national assets. We work in cross-functional teams, exploring how data, data science, AI, software, and customer needs can drive new product creation. Diverse problems require a diverse group of minds. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our growing team and collaborate with a cross-disciplinary group of engineers, PhDs, and Department of the Air Force civilian scientists.

Responsibilities

  1. Experience with Python, C++, and Java (Java is a plus).

  1. Familiarity with DSX data, the IRENE software suite, and object-oriented programming for our anomaly tool is beneficial.

  1. Familiarity with GitLab, CI/CD, interest in maintaining applying AI for programming assist and docker containers (or a willingness to learn).

  1. Interest in keeping data ingest pipelines within the security parameters of the CUI space, ability to make data storage highly accessible, with potential extensibility to the classified realm.

  1. Willingness to participate in small, tactical development teams using agile principles, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily standups, while contributing your own ideas.

  1. Willingness to participate in customer meetings to present and discuss technical plans and milestones.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field
• Familiarity with Linux systems
• Fluency in one of and experience in others: Python, Java, object-oriented programming, C++

• Proficiency with Git and modern distributed version-control practices
• Code examples (preferably on GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Ability to communicate effectively and document progress (e.g., in Confluence)
