Position: Operations Planner

Location: U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command, Fort Bliss, TX

Overview: Serves as an Operations and Training Specialist supporting Operations Group A, U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command. In general, this individual is responsible for planning and supporting assessments of future Army warfighting systems and formations that are integrated into U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Army Europe-Africa training exercises through the course of the year. As required, assist in training U.S. Army soldiers selected to employ future warfighting systems during live experiments such as Project Convergence, Joint Warfighting Assessments, and other Concept-Focused Warfighting Experiments. Responsible for planning, preparing, conducting, and assessing training on a variety of future Army systems, e.g. air and ground robotic systems, counter-UAS systems, weapons systems, direct fire systems, etc.

Duties and Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist Operations Group A in collecting data and performance assessments of future warfighting systems and unit formations.
  • Ensure Observers input insights and observations into experiment databases for operational analysis.
  • Review insights and observations to ensure Observers’ input accurately reflects the effectiveness and performance of warfighting systems under assessment.
  • Assist with the review of each experiment’s Initial Insight Report.
  • Assist the Assessment lead in developing products for presentation at daily commander updates.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of team worksites
  • Assist with the packing, inspecting, shipping, and receiving JMC equipment at experiment locations.
  • Analyze training requirements for new Army warfighting systems
  • Develop troop-to-task plans from quad charts, white papers, SOPs, and other sources.
  • Capture and record training requirements:
    • Required training, i.e. operators, maintainers, etc
    • Class size and length of each class
    • Target audience requirements
    • Required pre-requisite training
    • Resources required, e.g. classrooms, training areas, firing ranges, etc.
  • Prepare charts for NET Synchronization Meetings
  • Develop NET schedules for warfighting system
  • Coordinate training with supporting Army units
  • Develop NET operations orders as directed
  • Conduct DOTLMPF systems analysis for future warfighting systems and provide observations to the unit chain of command

Desired experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Former U.S. Army battalion, or brigade operations officer or senior NCO
  • Expert in the U.S. Army training process for individuals, crews, and units
  • Proficient in developing lesson plans and programs of instruction in accordance with U.S. Army standards.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Power Point, etc.

Travel: 25% per year both CONUS and OCONUS locations

Security Clearance: Must possess a current SECRET clearance.
